My name is Kelseyleigh; I am seventeen years old and like thousands of others in this world: I love the written word. Even more importantly, I love to create the written word. Writing is an escape, a ship built solely out of words that is able to take me wherever my heart desires. Distant lands full of menacing beasts, my own backyard, a high school cafeteria . . . the possibilities are endless.
Possibility.
That is what lies at the tip of an author's fingers or the point of a pen: possibility and power. Not the power of a dictator or overbearing mother as one might find in a book, but the power to evoke emotion. I am not sure there exists a writer who does not have this one goal in mind. To make the reader feel something is the ultimate goal.
It is certainly my goal.
And hopefully, I will be able to achieve my goal with my newly finished novel, If I Fall. But first, one must have readers. I have already begun the daunting task of sending out query letters like so many others. JK Rowling, Stephen King, and numerous other great authors have experienced the harsh blow of the rejection letter (or in most cases, many rejection letters). I have no doubt in my mind that I will experience the same, but hopefully, one day, I will also have the opportunity to experience that one other kind of letter. The letter that incinerates the pile of rejection letters with its brilliance. The letter that says "I want to publish your novel."
Those seemingly small six words are my dream, my future, my every wish.
Those six words are power.
Words are Power.
